Easy sunny day activity

Today Daniel & I did a fun little activity to commemorate our (approximately) 105º weather. I remember doing this when I was a kid. If you've never done this before, here's what you do:

Find a piece of black construction paper (or probably any dark color) along with several little trinkets. The things that work best are flat, a little bit heavy, and maybe have an interesting design. My favorite was a key. Other things we used were nail clippers, a Kinex piece, a Lego piece, my egg separator (bottom right), a Transformer piece, a rubber band, a rock, and a few others. Set it outside on a sunny day in the morning. Leave it there for several hours. The sun will fade all of the paper except for where your things were. We left ours outside from 9 am to 2 pm today, and that was plenty. It's easy, fun & free, and is at least is one good thing that can come out of this ridiculously hot weather! :)

What a wonderful idea! I'll have to keep that in my idea box for when Claire gets older! I hope you're surviving the heat okay. We only tolerated it. ;)
