Our family just went on a mini family vacation, our first in a long time. We went to Great Wolf Lodge, which is a huge indoor waterpark/hotel. It's located about 45 minutes south of where we live. This was our first time ever sleeping in a hotel as a family! It was also our first time going to any type of amusement park. We had a blast! We only stayed 1 night, as it's a bit pricey, but that still felt like enough time.
We checked in at 2 pm on Sunday. We got settled in our room, then got dressed and went down to the waterpark. It has a huge wave pool (which was the favorite part for most of us), several big waterslides, a little kid play area, and tons of buckets & sprayers full of water. We spent 1 1/2 hours there before we were exhausted (& hungry). We went back to our room, changed, then headed down to the buffet for dinner. It was delicious!! This place sure knows how to cater to families. There was awesome adult food, plus all the usual kid favorites. We went back to our room, watched a little TV, played games, then got ready for bed. The kids went to bed around 8, then Dave went down to the waterpark by himself so he could go on the super big waterslide. While he was there I got to play on our laptop using the hotel's free wi-fi.
Night time was the only not great part of the trip. Megan decided to cry off & on from about 11-1:00, needing us to get up with her so she didn't wake the boys up, then Jonathan decided that 5 am was a good time to wake up. Aaah! At least the other 2 kids slept until a decent time. We went back to the waterpark at 9 am to play a little bit more. We then packed up & checked out at noon. They let you stay at the park for the rest of the day after you check out, but we were too exhausted, so we came home. It was such a fun little trip. We so rarely do anything out of the ordinary, so this was quite a treat! The kids had a blast and so did Dave & I. I think we'll plan to make this a yearly celebrate-our-tax-return trip. :)

(The boys had their own little nook, which included a bunk bed)

That place looks awesome... so pricey though. Love the pics!! And the one where the boys are only wearing one water shoe, so cute!
Melissa- yeah, I know, that's why we just did 1 night. But considering it was our lodging & entertainment all in one, I think it's an okay price. If you book far enough in advance, and for an off-peak time, the price is a little better. Plus Dave's work has a program where we got 20% off.
I'm so glad you had such a great time! cute pictures! :)
We've been there twice and the nights are not good for us either. The first time Jean snored all night long and the second time Joshua coughed all night long and there were kids running up and down the hall even after 11p. We had a great time at the park.
